What I’m Doing Right Now
Updated 29th September, 2024 - Tāmaki Makaurau
I am packing down my life in Tāmaki Makaurau and getting ready to go back home for three months. My parents live in a quiet area in the countryside in Waikanae and are happy for me to spend a few months with them to focus on my writing. I'm going to remove the SIM card from my phone and delete all apps except for the music player I use. I have purchased a Nokia flip phone with a new number for emergencies while I’m away. I feel very grateful for my parents and the opportunity to do this and hope to get a lot of work done.
Project goals October 2024 - January 2025
Re-write five novel manuscripts that were written over the last few years while I was studying. After re-writes are done I will submit them out to literary agents and publishers as I go. If I manage to finish the five rewrites and related admin before I return to Tāmaki in January, I will begin writing a new manuscript.
I’m also looking forward to spending a lot of time exercising and getting in shape. I want to build strong physical and creative habits that I can continue with when I return to a somewhat normal life again. I’ve been living in another city from my parents for four years now so I’m also looking forward to spending quality time with them and other relatives in Waikanae.
